January 8, 2025 | 6h Portimao
The growing entry list for the event points to a true multi-class spectacle for fans. Teams from across the GT and endurance landscape set to converge upon the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve from 31 January-2 February.
A variety of GT3, GT4 and single-make GT cars will form the grid at Portimão, racing from 11:30AM CET until the early stages of dusk at 17:30.
In the GT3 class, the 6H Portimão will witness a convergence of leading endurance teams from around Europe.
With almost 50 years of history, Konrad Motorsport has achieved great success at the Le Mans 24 Hours, taken class victories at the Daytona 24 Hours, and won the 24 Hours of Bahrain. The team, known today as regulars in Prototype and GT racing including the Nürburgring 24 Hours, will be looking to add more silverware to kick-off 2025. For the 6H Portimão, the team has entered a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo II.
Fellow Nürburgring regulars SR Motorsport will be keen to capitalise on its vast endurance racing experience, as well as plentiful knowledge of its car: the team will enter a familiar steed in the form of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
More teams familiar to the Nordschleife faithful will also fight in GT3. One of the leading Mercedes-AMG teams at the Nürburgring and across the world, Team GetSpeed will enter another AMG GT3 Evo, and will no doubt be a benchmark for its class rivals.
A battle from British endurance racing will re-ignite at the 6H Portimão. Witt Gamski and his three-time Britcar/British Endurance Championship-winning Team MJC are on the entry list, with Gamski and pro driver Ross Wylie sharing driving duties in a Bentley Continental GT3. Meanwhile, early-2010s Britcar stalwart and sometime Team MJC rival Javier Morcillo brings his E2P team to the grid, entering an Aston Martin Vantage GT3. The Spanish team contested a 24-hour race at Portimão during 2024.
Further entries from Greystone GT (McLaren), AKM Motorsport (Mercedes) and Goodspeed (Mercedes) will also be vying for the overall victory at Portimão, and the grid is still growing!
In the GT4 class, SR Motorsport’s Mercedes will be looking to build upon a race-winning 2024 in GEDLICH’s GT4 Winter Series. While entered into the Club class, the SR Motorsport Porsche Cayman GT4 CS is also likely to battle among the GT4s. The CS-spec car has a smaller engine and owes a little more to its road-going cousins, but it is capable of taking the fight to GT4 machines in the overall order.
Elsewhere in GT4, competition will come from the likes of Jose Garcia and Patrick Kolb, who will enter a Lionspeed GP Porsche Cayman GT4 RS CS. The young team led by Kolb will also enter a Volkswagen Golf GTi into the TCX class.
NM Racing Team will be another force to be reckoned with in the Mercedes end of the GT4 class. The Spanish team has a great record in GT4 competitions domestically and internationally, having fought for championships in the GT4 European Series, GT4 Winter Series and Iberian Supercars. The team has also been victorious in the GT4 class at the Barcelona 24H.
MS Racing will bring a McLaren Artura GT4 into the battle for honours in this class, with Andreas Greiling set to lead the driver line-up. On home turf, Portuguese team Gianfranco Motorsport will be looking for success as they enter a Toyota Supra GT4.
The Cup 2 class for Porsche 992 GT3 Cup machinery has the potential to steal the show. So far, entries have been lodged by a variety of experienced teams, including A-Workx, Wileco Motorsport and Mtech Competition. Meanwhile, GT Winter Series frontrunners, Spanish GT and GT Cup Open Europe champions Racar Motorsport will also look for glory. Leandro Martins will lead the team’s driver line-up, eager to secure Cup 2 honours at one of his home circuits.
Entries in all classes are still open. All entries will run on Pirelli rubber, and GT2, GT3 and GT4 BoP will be provided by SRO Motorsports Group, ensuring competitive parity throughout the 6H Portimão.
The new-for-2025 6H Portimão is an exciting addition to GEDLICH’s Winter Series tour of Iberia, alongside its sister event, the 6H Barcelona. Across a further five weekends, four championships will be contested: the GT Winter Series, GT4 Winter Series, Formula Winter Series and Prototype Winter Series.
During the 6H Portimão weekend, the opening three races of the 2025 Formula Winter Series will also take place, with over 30 young talents looking to make a winning start to the season in Tatuus F4 machinery.
The 6H Portimão event, as well as every moment of the 2025 GEDLICH Racing Winter Series, will be streamed live on the Winter Series YouTube channel. In addition, spectator access to the 6H Portimão is free, making it the perfect way to start the year for endurance racing teams and fans alike!
