FWS: Maximilian Popov enters the Formula Winter Series with Van Amersfoort Racing

Van Amersfoort Racing has revealed that Maximilian Popov will join its driver line-up for Formula Winter Series in 2025. The experienced Dutch team and the 16-year-old Popov will forge a year-long partnership, also encompassing the Italian F4 and E4 Championships.

Popov already has a decade of karting experience, having previously finished third at both the 2019 WSK Final Cup in the 60 Mini class, and the 2021 Champions of The Future in the OK Junior category.

2024 marked the first year of single-seater racing for Popov, who found more pace as the season went on; after securing his inaugural Italian F4 top ten finish at Paul Ricard, he would find himself in the points paying positions three more times over the last six races of the year.

Rob Niessink, Van Amersfoort Racing CEO, said: “We’re delighted to have Maximilian join us for the 2025 season! He has built a solid foundation in karting and has already shown great progress in single-seaters. We are confident that with our support, he will continue to grow and deliver strong performances. Maximilian Popov added: “I feel really proud to be a part of this huge team. It’s a big pleasure for me to work with all the team members and, of course, we are ready to show some good results!”

The 2025 Formula Winter Series is just over a month away! The season begins at Portimao’s Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, from 30 January-2 February. All of the action will be streamed live on the Winter Series YouTube channel.
